Chatthe Group
The Chatthe family has been at the heart of Kenya’s sugar industry for over a century, with a rich legacy of large-scale sugarcane cultivation in the Kibos and Miwani regions of Kisumu County. Built on generations of agricultural expertise, entrepreneurship, and commitment to community development, the family has played a significant role in advancing the region’s sugar sector.
With extensive experience in sugarcane farming and transport logistics, the family strategically expanded its operations through vertical integration to support both its own farming activities and those of neighbouring growers. This vision led to the establishment of Kibos Sugar and Allied Industries Ltd (KSAIL) on 1st September 1999.
Since the commissioning of the sugar mill in 2007, KSAIL has experienced remarkable growth, evolving into a diversified industrial enterprise operating under the Chatthe Group. Today, the Group encompasses several major industries that reflect its commitment to innovation, sustainability, value addition, and Kenya’s industrial transformation.
Driven by a trail-blazing circular economy approach, the Chatthe Group continues to create value across the sugar industry supply chain while contributing to economic growth, employment creation, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment.
